What is FLAG
FLAG is a partnership of stakeholders from all aspects of Northern Devon's fishing community. The FLAG was formed to deliver the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) ‘Axis 4' funding programme in the Northern Devon. It will also explore any other relevant funding opportunities, such as other Axes of the EFF.
Axis 4
Axis 4 aims to sustainably develop smaller communities which largely depend on fishing for employment. A total of €4.6 million (around £3.9 million) has been made available across 6 coastal areas of England to help build a more sustainable economy for the fishing sector. The programme will run from 2007 to 2013, with all monies to be spent by 2015.
In England Axis 4 is overseen by the Marine Management Organisation which delegates control of the programme to the FLAGs. The lead organization for the Northern Devon FLAG is North Devon+. The programme in Northern Devon has secured £1,050,000 from the EFF which will be match funded locally.
The NDFLAG aim is to - "create the conditions for the sustainable development of the Northern Devon fishing community by increasing opportunities through a range of complementary measures".
Projects
Support will be available to projects which are innovative, sustainable and high quality that match with the FLAG objectives. Please see the project ideas form if you have an idea you wish to take forward.
